Make-up

in my short film 'baggage' the will be no makeup used as i want my short film to look natural and realistic. I have chosen to use no make up for my characters because if the characters look unrealistic with make up on it will make it harder for the audience to relate with the character as it doesn't look realistic. Also another reason for my choice of not using make up in my short film is because I do not want the audience's focus to be drawn away from the main characters emotions and troubles and to other actors make up.

Costumes

the characters will have only 3 sets of clothes for my short film. the first set of clothes will be casual wear for the opening scene where the audience are introduced to the main character Joe. he will be wearing jeans and a T shirt as he is at home and these clothes are very casual. I have picked this outfit as it will add to the natural aesthetic of the short film and will also allow the audience to start relating to the characters as he is wearing casual clothes like most people will also wear.

the second set of clothes the characters in my short film will have to wear is a suit or a shirt and skirt. i have chosen these sets of clothes as the characters are still in education and attending sixth form and suits and smart clothes are common wear for majority of sixth forms. this will also contribute to the realistic aesthetic of the film and again might be similar clothes some of the younger audience wear which will also allow the audience to relate to the character even more.

the third set of clothes will simply be some football shorts and a T shirt. I have selected this set of clothes for Joe and his friends as this is common clothes people wear if they go to meet their friends or go to play some casual football. this will also contribute to the realistic aesthetic of the short film and allow the audience to further relate to the characters.
