coursework post 5

mise-en-scene elements

setting: a traditional school classroom{for test anxiety scene}

            a bedroom{for overthinking worried scene}

            a school hallway

props: the main prop which is the backpack

also many props are needed in the school scenes such as books and pens etc

lighting: lighting in scenes will be key. in the classroom scenes the lighting will be dull to reflect the emotions of the main character

scenes including the friends will be lighter and more colourful to reflect the main characters joy

costumes: 10 actors need school uniform for the school scenes

4 actors playing the roles of friends and the main actor needs casual clothes for scenes outside of school scenes

actors: 1 teenage boy who is the main actor

10 teenage actors for the classroom scene and other school scene

4 actors for playing the roles of the main characters friends

genre: the genre of my short film will be a drama. this is because my film relies on the emotions and relationships of the characters to push the narrative and this is also the reason I didn't choose to base my short film around the genre of thriller and comedy. thriller would have been hard to direct because the scenes i am using is not fast paced like a thriller is and comedy would have been hard to direct because comedy is subjective and some people may not find the film comedic.

narrative: my short film will follow a linear narrative because this will allow the audience to really understand the plot of the short film and gain a deeper understanding for the main characters emotions ands relationships with other characters.

inspiration: my inspiration for this film comes from the short film anxiety. this provided inspiration for my short film because I was fascinated by the way the director displayed the mentality and the thinking process of a person with mental health. also the way the short film follows a linear narrative which allows the audience to create a bond with the characters.
